Ok we left Merida and now we are in Arkansas!
Arkansas is really pretty. We drove through New Mexico (also pretty) and Texas (mostly pretty) and Oklahoma (not pretty. Not at all.) and now we are in Arkansas and it is SO PRETTY.
Here is us hiking in the OZARKS! This is Mt. Nebo:
 |
| There's the ol' power plant! |
 |
| "Spring Rock" where the 1800s people who lived on the mountain for some reason got their water |
 |
| I like how my face looks weird in this. I look like I'm up to something |
 |
| All the rocks along the hike were wet and dripping and it was really cool |
 |
| This rock was called "Lovers Leap" and it was super scary |
And then the next day we went to Mount Magazine which was ALSO pretty!! Who know?!
 |
| Right after this picture was taken (on the trail called BEAR HOLLOW) we heard a weird rustling and no one else was around so we thought it was a bear and abandoned the trail for another one where there were people because we are BABIES and not BEARS |
 |
| So pretttyyyyy |
And that was all super fun and then THE NEXT DAY we went into DARDANELLE which is a little Arkansas town and it's really old it turns out and we drove around and looked at the old houses and found TREES OF DISTINCTION because that's what they are called (
SEE) and they are also called CHAMPION TREES which is so funny. Anyway they are super old trees and like the oldest/biggest in the state and if you have one you call someone and they give you a plaque or something. Anyway we got a map and drove around and looked at them because I like trees and we parked to see this beauty:
 |
| CHAMPION OF MY HEART |
BECAUSE HE IS 500-600 YEARS OLD. He is definitely a champion tree. He had a buddy, but he washed away in a flood. He is a white oak. He is not dead, it is just winter. He had a little fenced in area and TWO PLAQUES.
We tried to go to the Petit Jean trail/mountain/forest area to see a gd waterfall but SOMEONE in the family has a gunky eye (FAYE) and we were like whatever we can't do anything about it, we will make an appointment on the way and still take her on the hike, but then we had no cell reception because WE ARE IN RURAL ARKANSAS DRIVING THROUGH THE OZARKS and then I had anxiety (SHOCKER) and then my stomach hurt and I was nauseous so Johnny turned the ship around and we came back and anyways she has an appointment in Little Rock tomorrow and Johnny did laundry today instead and I worked.
SO PETIT JEAN LATER!
and maybe some Trees of Distinction..... MAYBE
Wow! It really is beautiful! I hope you’ll be able to see the champion trees with some leaves before you leave.😂
ReplyDeleteLol Johnny kept asking me if they were dead!
