Learned a new word! "Querida" means "dear"! I learned it from a book I am reading and will now call Faye "querida" all the time! And maybe sometimes Johnny.
Johnny and I are settling into our place! We love it to pieces. It's so incredibly hot here that we figured out a way to barricade ourselves in the back of the house. Our house is essentially 5 rooms in a row, all connected, with a courtyard running along the side, as you saw in my previous post. We just shut very door and make a little fort in the back where we keep the kitchen and master bedroom doors open to the little living room tucked at the end. Then, we put the AC on in the little living room and DON'T LEAVE THE HOUSE until the sun goes down. So far so good!
My computer was giving me issues and that was freaking me out since it's, you know, my livelihood, but Johnny is a hero and he fixed it!
I had a Skype interview this morning with the new head of the school at the place I interviewed for last week. I love my experience teaching online because I was not at all nervous to do a Skype interview. Did I get everything up and running and ready to go an hour before the interview? Yes. But I was calm as a cucumber during. The interview was quite short but it felt good to even have an interview process. I should hear back soon!
I am really happy with my editing website and Facebook and have already gotten some new clients so that's really very awesome!
So today we barricaded ourselves in the back of the house and worked all day, and then we ventured out into the extreme humidity. I forgot my watercolors at home but did bring my watercolor paper. I have really wanted to paint lately, and the other day Johnny and I found an art store just a few blocks from our house! We walked over there today and I spoke in terrible Spanish and the lady was super nice and helped me find what I needed. Art supplies are very expensive here! I paid 15 dollars for all this. I am happy with it, but it definitely isn't the adorable Windsor and Newton watercolor travel set that I forgot at home.
This is the pretty plant in our little tiny garden outside, anyone know what it is?
This is the shelf of Fabuloso at the Walmart. This stuff smells very good.
This is the Centro where we went a few days ago to get cash out. Sooooo pretty. Everything is so pretty here.
This is a brand of napkin that I took a picture of to send to my mom because her mom's name was Hortensia!
This is the little grocery store just down the street from us where we will be getting our groceries from! It's very cute.
Oh and lastly, we saw a group of people on the corner playing drums and dancing and handing out swag - they were supporting a politician! I can't remember the name of the politician, but it was so fun. I didn't take a picture because I didn't want to be rude. So I'll just tell you about it.
Ok adios!
